Bianchello is an ancient vine variety, also called Biancame, which is only cultivated on the hills surrounding the River Metauro. It is a mythological wine because Tacitus, philosopher and writer of the Roman Empire, mentioned it as the reason why Hasdrubal was defeated near this river by the Roman army in 207 B.C. Bianchello has represented for the wine-growers of my family and for me, as a third-generation expert, the symbolic vine variety, the point of reference of a whole life in this business.

Our work has led us to find out the soils where we could plant the vineyards, each soil with its own characteristics, suitable to give grapes and wines with strong personality and to test advanced oenology techniques in winemaking, with vinification in reduction and cryomaceration.

This wine is made with passion, research and technology:

Borgo Torre 2014

Bianchello del Metauro Doc

The vineyard is situated on the hills, 35 km from the sea, 250 metres above sea level. The Apennines give a typical climate with abundant snowfalls in winter and drought in summer, warm autumn and rainy spring. The warm south-west wind (locally called ‘garbino’) blows from the mountains and gets warm while reaching the sea creating a dry climate. Not so influent are the northern winds – bora and tramontane – whereas the northwest wind is stronger. The temperature rangeisparticularly strong in summer.
